Service Description
How should we live? Is there free will? Is there life after death? Is our universe real? What is truth? These and many other questions are covered in this course. The ideas of thinkers such as Homer, Socrates, Plato, Thomas Aquinas, Buddha, Confucius, Lao-Tzu, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Rousseau, Nietzsche, Rousseau, Arendt, and Foot are analyzed in the context of popular films and programs. These videos include portions of Troy, The Ten Commandments, Little Buddha, Gandhi, Groundhog Day, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, The Dark Knight, Star Wars, Avengers: Endgame, Inception, The Matrix, Blade Runner, The Office, The Handmaid’s Tale, and The Good Place. The book series Popular Culture and Philosophy, edited by Gregory Bassham, are the standard texts upon which most discussions are based.
