The height of summer is upon us, and we hope your break has been filled with pool days, sunshine, fireworks, farmers market trips and minimal sunburns! This newsletter gives a taste of the excitement to come in the 2026/27 academic year, as well as a spotlight on a celebratory summer evening coming up soon!

EWoW to Attend Yale Model United Nations 2027

Education Without Walls will participate in the Yale Model United Nations LIII conference at Yale University in New Haven, CT in January, 2027. Delegates will attend the four-day event from Thursday, January 21st to Sunday, January 24th and will interact with over 2,000 delegates from around the country and the world. Our representatives will attend committee sessions and take a position on a variety of issues and debate with other delegates using Robert’s Rules of Order and Parliamentary Procedure. Months before the conference, our delegates will conduct research about their assigned countries and write position papers about various international topics including global warming, terrorism, drones, weapons in space, women’s rights, and governmental corruption. Public speaking and coalition-building are important aspects of the conference, and delegates will learn other points of view they might not have considered before.

In addition, delegates will explore Yale University and New Haven including tours of the university, visiting classes, attending a cappella music performances, and eating the best pizza, or apizza as they say, in the country. The Peabody Science Museum, the Center for British Art, and the Yale University Museum of Art are all within a short walking distance of the Omni Hotel, our home base for the duration of the conference. The Saturday night dance at the Omni is always a highlight for the delegates. The Yale Model United Nations is a wonderful opportunity for our delegates to learn about the workings of the United Nations while getting a glimpse of college life and making new friends.

Alumni Organize a Brookfield Music Festival

Education Without Walls alumni Emma Cable (Class of 2024), Joseph Parascondola (Class of 2024), and Zoe Temple (Class of 2025) have organized a Music Festival, which their band, Dacoda, will be headlining. The festival will take place on August 9th from 1pm - 8pm at the Brookfield Town Hall Pavilion and will feature nine local bands, plus food trucks and other area vendors. A $10 donation is suggested for attendees. The band Dacoda have become a local standout, known for their creative, yet faithful covers of alternative rock classics like Fleetwood Mac, The Velvet Underground, Big Thief, and more.
